Coronation Street viewers were introduced to newcomer Fern in recent scenes.
Bernie Winters (Jane Hazelgrove) for the shock of her life during Friday’s episode as an unexpected arrival knocked on her door.
She returned home from her shopping spree with Joseph Brown’s (William Flanagan) new uniform and a posh blazer for herself.
When Bernie admits that the blazer was meant for someone else and was given to her in error, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) urged her to take it back.

Later in the episode, a lady called at No.5 and introduced herself as Fern.
She claimed that Bernie had tried stealing her posh jacket, so how will Bernie get out of this one?
Corrie fans may recognise Gabrielle Glaister from her previously role in the ITV soap.
The actress famously played Debs Brownlow back in 2000.
Debs is beautician sister of Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch) who turned up in Weatherfield after working on the cruise ships.
She stayed for nine months, living at No.6 and working as a hairdresser at Audrey’s salon.
In her finals scenes she ended her relationship with Duggie Ferguson and ran off with Natalie’s ex-boyfriend Vinny Sorrell, returning to her old cruise firm.
In upcoming scenes, Bernie and Fern realise they have a lot in common.
Soap star Jane, who has played Bernie since 2019, has previously revealed that she came up with the storyline idea as she and Gabrielle have been constantly mistaken for each other over the years.
The pair look so similar even some of their Coronation Street colleagues have even stopped Gabrielle in the corridor to chat thinking it was her.
She said: “I mentioned this idea to Jonathan a while ago. Gabby and I are constantly mistaken for each other with people saying they have seen one of us in something when it was the other one.
“We have often laughed about it together but then I started thinking it might be fun to have her in the show as Bernie’s secret twin or a doppelgänger.
“I was so chuffed when they told me that they had devised this storyline and that Gabby was on board.”
“I was at the Soap Awards recently and someone who used to work with Gabby started talking to me thinking I was her.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
