Coronation Street newcomer Daryan star’s life – Ofcom fury, real age and rival TV roles

Coronation Street has aired its most harrowing story to date after refugee Daryan Zahawi was brutally attacked by racist thugs.

The youngster was accused of ‘stealing’ Max Turner’s school place and confronted with vile abuse from Griff and his gang.

But what is the star like away from the cameras? Daryan is played by Twana Omer, who hails from Manchester.

He’s even proficient in badminton.

Corrie isn’t his first rodeo, either.

Twana found fame in Sky TV series Cobra as Max in 2021.

Next year, he’s slated to appear in a series of Better, as Khafiz, and Malpractice, as Yussef – which are currently in production.

Aged just 18, Twana was booked for a “minimum three month” theatre engagement across the pond in the United States, taking on Washington and New York.

It hasn’t all been easy for the star, as his storyline was hit with a flurry of Ofcom complaints.

Episodes aired on November 14 saw Iraq-native Daryan leaving Speed Daal, only to be assaulted by Griff’s racist gang.
