EastEnders bosses confirm return date for Alfie Moon ahead of explosive scenes

EastEnders have confirmed exactly when Shane Ritchie is set to return to the epic soap to reprise his role as Alfie Moon after four years away from the show.

Alfie is set to return to Albert Square to crash ex-wife Kat’s wedding to gangster Phil Mitchell. His first appearance will be on Monday 12th September, when he’ll show up at Kat’s door.

Kat will show up to answer in her wedding dress, shocked at who is set to be standing in front of her hours before she weds Phil.

Alfie will reportedly go to extreme lengths to stop Kat from marrying Phil, in a bid to win her back, but will Kat be willing to hear him out?

On the other side of the square, Zack convinces Sharon to go for what she wants, which is Phil. Will Sharon and Alfie get what they want or will Phil and Kat finally tie the knot?

With Alfie coming back to steal his to-be missus and having stolen from him in the past, Phil isn’t set to be happy about Alfie’s return. When Alfie was last on the Square, he had a run-in with Phil after he stole money from the notorious thug.

What will Phil think of Alfie’s return?

Things didn’t end too well between him and Kat either. Kat dumped Alfie in 2018 after she found out he had fathered cousin Hayley’s baby.

Shane has been praised by producers and viewers for creating the loveable Alfie Moon, making his highly anticipated return one to watch during this explosive week of drama.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “Shane Richie created one of the most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap.

“To welcome him back to Walford is an absolute pleasure. A lot’s happened since Alfie’s been away from the Square,” he continued before adding, “but wherever his floral shirts go you can expect fun, frolics and, of course, the odd porky pie. We’re over the moon to have him home.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
