EastEnders star Shona McGarty first appeared on Albert Square 14 years ago and soon became a core part of the BBC soap.
Since arriving in 2008, Whitney has been at the centre of many hard-hitting storylines, including the abuse she suffered at the hands of her adoptive mum Bianca Jackson’s ex-boyfriend Tony King and Rob Grayson sexually exploiting her.
Unlucky-in-love-Whitney has sadly had a string of failed relationships, including the demise of her marriage to Lee Carter and discovering fiancé Callum was gay on their wedding day.

While things haven’t always gone right for Whitney, it seems things could be looking up as she currently has her eye on Zack.
As a romance could be brewing for Whitney, Daily Star has looked at where her exes are away from the soap.
Jody Latham
Rob Grayson was first introduced in 2011 and was a pimp who used Whitney for financial gain.
While Whitney didn’t see it at first, Rob’s intentions soon became clear and it led to a showdown between him and Whitney’s brother Ryan which resulted in Rob’s death.
Away from the role of Rob, Jody Latham appeared in several other TV series including brief stints ITV’s Coronation Street and Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.
The 39-year-old also had notable guest roles in the Waterloo Road and BBC medical drama Holby City.
Alongside EastEnders, his most notable role to date is Phillip ‘Lip’ Gallagher in hit drama series Shameless which ran from 2011 to 2021.
In June 2022, the actor confirmed he was dating Too Hot To Handle star Chloe Veitch, however the pair split not long after.
Danny Hatchard
Lee Carter is the son of Mick and Linda Carter and is also the ex-husband of Whitney.
Danny Hatchard made his first appearance as Lee in 2014 and departed in 2017, returning briefly for a stint in December 2019.
Whitney and Lee’s marriage was never plain sailing, with Lee even hitting his wife on one occasion.
Despite their best efforts at making it work, Lee eventually made the decision to leave Walford and move to Dover.
Following his exit, the 31-yer-old went on to join the cast of Our Girl as Private Rhett Charlton alongside Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.
His most recent acting credit is TV drama series Ridley Road which was another BBC production.
The actor showed off his incredible transformation at the beginning of this year after hitting the gym and losing two stone.
Kush Kazemi – Davood Ghadami
Davood Ghadami played Kush Kazemi on EastEnders from 2014 to 2021 before he met a tragic end at the hands of Gray Atkins.
At the time of his death, Kush was set to start a new life with Whitney but the pair failed to get their happy ending after Gray pushed Kush in front of a tube.
The 40-year-old has had roles in several other soaps including Doctors and Casualty and after leaving EastEnders, went on to join the cast of Holby City until its end.
Davood sent fans into meltdown when he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, finishing in sixth place alongside partner Nadiya Bychkova.
The actor and his family own a property business called Blackraven Developments.
Recently, it was revealed his Netteswell Hall estate had been destroyed by a fire, with police confirming they were treating the incident as arson.
In 2010, the soap star married his long-term girlfriend whom he shares two daughters with.
Leo King – Tom Wells
Tom Wells made his first appearance as Leo King in 2019 and was introduced as the son of Tony King – the man who sexually abused Whitney as a child.
While Whitney was blissfully unaware of his true identity, Leo was hell bent on taking revenge as he believed Whitney’s allegations towards his father were false.
Leo began stalking Whitney and a showdown between the pair culminated in Whitney stabbing him in self-defence.
After EastEnders, Tom starred as the lead in TV series Crying Out Loud and took on the role of Alistair Morgan in Channel 4 mini series Murder in the Car Park.
Gray Atkins – Toby-Alexander Smith
Toby-Alexander Smith portrayed evil Gray Atkins from 2019 to 2022.
The serial killer claimed the lives of three Albert Square residents, including his wife Chantelle.
As she was still coming to terms with Kush’s death, Gray manipulated his way into Whitney’s life and the pair briefly dated.
The 31-year-old stepped down from the role of Gray after the character was sentenced to life in prison following his rein of terror.
While sat in the Strictly Come Dancing audience in 2019, Toby met actress Amy Walsh who is best known for playing Tracy Metcalfe on Emmerdale.
In December 2021, the pair welcomed their first child Bonnie-Mae and announced their engagement in August.
When asked what his future plans were following his soap exit, Toby told The Sun: “Changing nappies, breast pumps and not getting any sleep probably.
“It’s all good. I’m very happy using this time now just to be present with Amy and Bonnie and I’m just loving every second of it.”
He added: “Who knows what’s around the corner but for right now I’m very happy to just be a full-time dad.”
