Matthew Perry has apologised after appearing to question why Keanu Reeves was alive while other famous faces are dead.
The Friends star, 53, seemed to take aim at the Matrix actor, 58, by asking why he “still walks among us” in his autobiography. He made the comments while discussing their mutual friend River Phoenix after he passed away following a drugs overdose in 1993 at the age of just 23.
Matthew, who starred as Chandler Bing in hit sitcom Friends, wrote: “The list of geniuses who were ahead of their time is too long to detail here — suffice to say, near the top of any such list should be my co-star in ‘A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,’ River Phoenix.

“River was a beautiful man, inside and out — too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down.

“Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”
He went on: “River was a better actor than me; I was funnier. But I certainly held my own in our scenes — no small feat, when I look back decades later.”
But after his words raised a few eyebrows, he issued an apology.
The American said: “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name.

“I apologise. I should have used my own name.”
In his new book, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew also wrote: “River was a beautiful man inside and out and too beautiful for this world, it turned out.”
Later on, he name dropped Keanu again as he brought up the death of Chris Farley, who died from an overdose in 1997 at just 33.

He revealed: “His disease had progressed faster than mine had. (Plus, I had a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin,’ a fear we did not share).
“I punched a hole in Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room. Keanu Reeves walks among us.”
The A-list pair have never worked together.
