Home and Away Jessica Falkholt's death – car smash, saved from burning alive to skull op

The soap world was rocked in 2018 when Home And Away beauty Jessica Falkholt died following a car crash.

Jessica – who was only 29 when she died – was a rising star Down Under and had won plenty of fans for her turn as Hope Morrison in Summer Bay.

She first appeared in the soap in September 2016 as Hope, and had a recurring part until November that year.

Her other screen parts included fantasy thriller movie Harmony and Aussie series Bite Club and her career was very much on the up when she passed away.

On Boxing Day 2017, Jessica was heading home with her parents and younger sister Annabelle after a family Christmas lunch in New South Wales when they were struck by another vehicle.

Driver Craig Whitall, who was a drug user, lost control around a bend and smashed into the Falkholts.

Jessica’s parents Lars and Vivian Falkholt died at the scene of the accident.

And Whitall – who it was later discovered had a cocktail of prescription drugs in his system – was also killed.

However, horrified onlookers got involved and they managed to drag Jessica and her 21-year-old sister Annabelle from the wreckage.

Jessica and Annabelle were saved from burning to death as the witnesses managed to remove them from the Mazda before the fire started.

Sister’s death

The star’s parents and sister also died

The actress and her younger sister were both rushed to hospital but both had some serious injuries.

Sadly, Annabelle passed away three days later on December 29.

Her partner Jordan Brohier paid tribute on Facebook after she died, saying that she was the “most amazing girl I’ve ever met”.

“Today I lost the love of my life Annabelle,” he wrote in his moving tribute.

“The three years I knew her were the best years of my life.

“I’m so thankful for every second I got to spend with my baby.”

He went on: “I promise that somewhere, we will be together again, I will find you and we will live a happy long life together.”

Life support switched off

Jessica was treated at St George Hospital in Sydney, where she had to have one of her kidneys and part of her skull removed.

She ended up on life support for several days but a decision was made to switch it off and she died in hospital on January 17.

A relative told Daily Mail Australia that they were at peace knowing that Jessica was with her beloved family again.

“We’re all sad but she is with her family now,” the relative said.

“Her mum was her biggest supporter so I am sure she is in her arms.”
