'Les Dawson's ghost ripped my trousers and has possessed me', Jon Culshaw claims

The ghost of Les Dawson has been playing tricks on comic Jon Culshaw.

First a bracelet he was wearing that belonged to the late comedy legend flew across the stage.

Then his trousers ripped during the same performance – and Les’s widow Tracy reckons it was a spooky sign.

He revealed: “I was wearing the big bracelet, which, during one gesticulation, flew off across the stage.

“I bent down to pick it up and ripped my trousers. Tracy said: ‘I bet that’s Les. That’ll be his way of having fun’.”

Jon joked that he just gargles “a bit of pea grit out the fish tank” in order to master the comedian’s famous gravelly voice.

But he said that when he embodies the role and dresses as Les he feels his spirit there.

Jon explained: “It’s rather lovely – you feel almost possessed.

“It affects your body language and mood. You take on his style, motion and stance.

“Then, you start to talk to everybody as Les. You do little gurns and people just smile.

“The joyfulness in the room shoots up. It’s lovely.

“I was reluctant to take off my suit and put my jumper back on.”
