Love Island fans all say same thing as Gemma Owen keeps dad's name a secret

Love Island is officially here and fans have been saying the same thing about Gemma Owen, who’s dad is footballing legend Michael Owen.

Gemma didn’t seem too happy as she was paired up with Liam Llewellyn – and even less so when they got chatting one-to-one.

As he began speaking about football, viewers became convinced that Gemma was desperate to tell him who her dad was as he quizzed her on her dating history and if she’d been with a footballer.

One fan tweeted: “Gemma is so blunt!! She was trying so hard not to drop her dad’s name in.”

While another joked: “Gemma trying not to tell people who her dad is.”

A fourth said: “Gemma was begging to talk about her dad.”

Ahead of entering the villa, the international dressage rider and business owner, 19, confessed that the England star wasn’t too pleased about her taking part and described it as “a father’s worst nightmare”.

Telling ITV why she wanted to appear on Love Island, she said: “I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer. I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, ‘Why not?'”

She added: “I would say I’m fun, flirty and fiery. I think I’m good at giving advice, I’m a good person to talk to, I’m very honest. If I want the same guy, I’d do it but in a nice respectful way.”

Speaking of how competitive she is, Gemma said: “Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player.

“I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old. I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive.

“[When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want. But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.

“I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.”

Love Island is returning tonight at 9pm on Channel ITV2.
