Mike Tindall has said that, though he was approached multiple times by ITV bosses to do I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, there was always a “deal breaker”.
Talking to the Daily Star, the rugby star said: “It’s been a conversation for numerous years, last year we got relatively close but the deal breaker was it being in Wales. It’s not quite the same I think.”
The show has been in Wales over the past two years due to the outbreak of coronavirus, but will this year be returning to its home in the Australian Outback.

The father-of-three stated that he had been in talks with ITV bosses for over half a year before agreeing to go on the show.

The 44-year-old explained: “We’ve been discussing it for six-eight months of this year around it. I spoke to Hask [James Haskell] about it and he thought it would be some good fun.”
Former rugby union player James Haskell appeared on the show in 2019 and was the fourth contestant to be voted off the show.
Competitive Mike, who undoubtedly will be hoping to stay on the show longer than his pal James, also remarked how he doesn’t feel that his family are missing him “that much” since he’s left for Oz.

Mike said: “They seem to be managing very well though on the phone calls that I’ve had so they’re not missing me that much.”
He said that he and his wife had not really been separated since the pair had welcomed their children.
He continued: “Myself and Zara have been good through our past, she goes away for weeks at a time, and I used to go on tour and such so we’re used to having those periods where you’re away.

“Mia was born in 2014 and then I retired so she hasn’t really gone through that experience with any of the kids.”
Mike was asked by The Mirror in an interview about whether or not he has had royal approval to appear on the ITV reality.
He bluntly replied: “It’s not something I need to tell you.”
The show will return to Australia this year after two years in Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
ITV said in a statement: “Returning to its home in Australia after a two-year break, our celebrities will leave their plush pads and luxuries far behind as they spend up to three weeks taking on the Australian jungle with a whole host of surprises created for them.”
