Miriam Margolyes dropped the F-bomb live on BBC Radio as she revealed what words she had for new Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

The 81-year-old is known for her outrageous TV moments, several of which include swearing during live broadcasts and nothing changed during her appearance on Radio 4’s Today programme on Saturday (October 15) morning.

The Bafta-winning actress was on the show to pay tribute to her late Harry Potter co-star Robbie Coltrane who passed away on Friday (October 14).

At the end of the interview, she told presenters Martha Kearney and Justin Webb that she ran into the former health secretary, who had been interviewed on the same programme just before her, and how she wished him good luck in his new role.

Causing ripples on the airwaves, she said: “When I saw him there I just said you’ve get a hell of a job, the best of luck. What I really wanted to say was “f*** you, you b******”. But you can’t say that.”

The flustered presenters were stunned by Miriam’s choice of words as Justin chimed: “Oh, no, no, no, you mustn’t say that. No, you can’t say that! We’ll have to have you out of the studio now!,” before quickly introducing the sports.

The theatre star’s comment was received positively by fans and celebrities who stormed social media to share how brilliant they found it.

One penned: “Possibly the greatest moment in the Today programme’s history courtesy of Miriam Margolyes,” alongside the clip of the show.

Presenter Robert Llewellyn wrote: “I’ve always been a casual admirer of the actress Miriam Margolyes, I am now a fully paid up superfan. BBC Radio 4 today program this morning.”

Fern Britton jumped in on the action and said: “God bless #MiriamMargolyes on @BBCr4today. Her poetic and fulsome thoughts on #RobbieColtrane and slightly pithier ones on #JeremyHunt Gods bless freedom of speech.”

While another user echoed: “God love Miriam Margolyes! Saying what we all think on the national broadcaster, first thing in the morning.”
