Piers Morgan slams 'nasty fraud' David Walliams and issues warning over BGT recordings

Piers Morgan has branded David Walliams “one of the nastiest frauds in TV” as the star faces backlash for making derogatory remarks about former Britain’s Got Talent contestants.

The comedian, 51, issued a public apology after leaked transcripts from the ITV show revealed he had called an elderly contestant a “c**t” three times while speaking to an unknown party at the judges table.

In another recording, Walliams was overheard referencing his boner and making sexually explicit comments about a female contestant.

Piers went on to bash Walliams as “one of the nastiest frauds in TV.”

The brutal verdict follows the comedian replacing former BGT judge Piers on the talent series in 2012.

In his tweet, Piers wrote: “Tip of the iceberg… Walliams is one of the nastiest frauds in TV.”

The savage dig comes in the wake of Walliams apologising for the comments, which he himself labelled “disrespectful”.

He told The Guardian: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.

“These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared.

“Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

The derogatory remarks were recorded during an audition show at the London Palladium in January 2020.

Piers’ input comes as a show insider warned Walliams faces being axed from BGT in wake of the scandal.

A source told The Mail: “This could not have come at a worse time in terms of his return to BGT, the discussions are going on right now so David’s remarks have now become a huge part of the conversation.

“He hasn’t signed any deal yet which has come as a relief because now there are options. It is a family show and this isn’t just a negative thing to happen, it is offensive to people.

“It has left David in a very precarious position.

“There are some people involved in the show who point blank don’t want him back, there is a danger of this incident becoming part of the BGT narrative and nobody wants that.”

A spokesperson for ITV added: “We do not condone the language outlined in these allegations and we have spoken to the producers of Britain’s Got Talent.”
