Sally Nugent squirms as BBC Breakfast airs 'proper TV kiss' between Neighbours stars

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent squirmed as she watched the iconic wedding kiss between Charlene and Scott on Neighbours.

The 50-year-old presenter was back on our screens on Tuesday morning alongside co-host Dan Walker.

They welcomed Neighbours actress Julie Mullins, who famously played Julie Martin in the Australia soap, to discuss the news that the long-running show is set to be axed after 37 years on air.

Before Dan and Sally introduced Judy to the show, a lengthy montage of iconic moments from Neighbours played including Charlene and Scott’s wedding day.

The couple, played by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, celebrated becoming man and wife by sharing a passionate smooch at the alter.

As the nostalgic footage came to an end, host Dan remarked: “That’s a proper TV kiss that isn’t it.”

Sally added: “Is that a bit much for this time of day.”

Millins played Julie from 1992 until 1994 and her storylines included struggling to befriend her stepson, her crumbling marriage and the discovery that she is a product of rape.

During the interview, the actress explained that she hoped that there would be a way for Neighbours to star on air.

Distressed stars from the Channel 5 soap were pictured in tears after they emerged from crisis chats about the future of the popular Australian show.

The meeting comes after it was reported that the long-running soap could be axed after almost 40 years.

The cast, including April Rose Pengilly, Tim Kano, Jackie Woodburne, Jemma Donovan, Tim Kano, Freya Van Dyke, Matt Wilson, were spotted leaving Nunawading Studios in Melbourne.

April, who plays Chloe Brennan, was red-faced as she put on sunglasses to hide her face.

The star seemed worried as she wore earphones while walking out.

She was also holding onto a Neighbours script as she made her way.

A spokesperson for Channel 5 said recently in a statement: “Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer.
