A young magician left Simon Cowell speechless on Britain’s Got Talent – before the head judge branded him a ‘young Harry Potter’.
Nine-year-old schoolboy Ryland Petty won the hearts of the crowd with his dazzling magic act when he appeared on the hit ITV talent show on Saturday night (May 21).
The young lad invited Simon’s fellow judge Amanda Holden onto the stage to help him out with his action-packed audition, which involved a handful of impressive tricks with Rubik’s cubes.
Before his audition, Ryland told judges Simon, Amanda, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon that he was a huge Harry Potter fan, something Simon picked up on immediately.
It made it all the more special as Simon ended up comparing him to the fictional Hogwarts wizard, based on J.K Rowling’s bestselling fantasy books.
Simon said: “I am speechless” before deeming the act “unbelievable” and comparing him to the famous film wizard.
Ryland had asked Amanda to think of any word as she stepped onto the stage, so she chose “love”.
He then invited his fellow magicians from the Magic Circle Young Magicians Club, who each walked onto the stage equipped with a Rubik’s cube of their own.
The schoolboy later asked the audience to turn on their phone lights and instructed his fellow magician peers to hold up their Rubik’s cubes.
The whizz proceeded to tap his pals to signal them to place their cubes into a grid, which later revealed a love heart to match Amanda’s secret word – “love”.
And if that wasn’t enough to stun the judges, he whipped away the table cloth where he and Amanda had been sitting, and it spelled out the word in giant letters.
The audience erupted in cheers as Amanda stood up from her seat crying: “Wow. Oh my goodness!”
Ryland got four ‘yes’ votes from the judges, who gave him a standing ovation before putting him through the live shows.
