Strictly Come Dancing finalist Helen Skelton has spoken out for the first time following the backlash her dance partner Gorka Marquez faced after his “furious” reaction to Hamza Yassin’s win.
During Monday’s visit to ITV studios, Ranvir Singh welcomed viewers back to Lorraine as she returned to the helm of the breakfast show to discuss the latest news in the headlines.
One of the biggest stories on everyone’s lips was the Spanish ballroom dancer’s reaction to missing out on stealing the glitterball trophy for the third time in a row.

Now, the former Blue Peter presenter has spoken out for the first time since the hugely popular finale aired on Saturday where she confessed the dad-of-one was disappointed not to take home the trophy.
Ranvir pointed out: “I mean you were gracious, but bless his heart, he was broken after this wasn’t he? Because everyone wanted him to win it in the pros, I know.
“But you likened it to this moment from Friends which is absolutely genius” to which Helen chuckled: “Yeah, its the moment when Joey didn’t win the TV award.”
She added: “The thing is, what I love about Gorka and our friendship is, we are so honest and it’s written all over our faces.
“When I was terrified, I was terrified. When we were loving our time together, we were loving our time together. When we were stressed, we were stressed.
“If his face had said anything other than ‘I’m disappointed’ on Saturday, it would have been a disservice”.
Helen went on to clarify that she was more than happy for her fellow contestants Hamza and his dance partner Jowita Przystał after they won the series over the weekend.

The mum-of-three added: “I’m not taking anything away from Hamza and Jowita, they have been brilliant all season and we are delighted for them.”
She added how the show itself had helped her to find herself following her emotional split from her ex-husband earlier this year as she thanked her loyal supporters on the show.
The blonde beauty gushed: “Thank you for all the support we’ve had throughout the series, it’s meant so much to us.”
