Ulrika Jonsson has branded Alexandra Burke an “attention seeker” after the X Factor winner said she would be keeping her baby’s name and gender a secret.
Former Strictly star Alexandra, 34, said on Loose Women this week that she would be keeping her baby private, after she welcomed them with her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph, 35.
But television star Ulrika, 55, has slammed the singer’s decision, explaining that she “couldn’t wrap her head around” it.

Former Gladiators host Ulrika said: “Announcing you’re pregnant and then shutting the door of access to your life for those who have hitherto cared about your journey, supported you or are just plain nosey, isn’t on.”
She added in her Sun column: “For me, it attracts far more attention than leaving the door ajar and letting people know you’ve had a girl or a boy.
“Maybe that was the point, says the cynic in me.”
Alexandra broke down in tears on ITV Daytime show Loose Women when she opened up about her decision about her baby.
She said that while there was interest in her life due to her fame, which came after she took part in The X Factor in 2008, her family had not asked for the same attention.
Explaining how “hard” it was, Alexandra said: “I come from X Factor and I’m very grateful for the platform.
“In the process of being who I am … the impact on them is hard.”
She added as tears began to flow: “They never asked for it, I asked for it… I want to protect the baby as much as I can.”
Alexandra said that it would be up to her child whether or not they wanted to be in the spotlight too.
And while there were tears on the show, there was plenty of happiness, as she said: “Oh life has changed!
“Sleep is a thing of the past. I’ve never felt so content in my life and I’ve never known love like this.
“It’s overwhelming and I don’t know how to put it into words… I’m so happy.”
