Amanda Bynes on psychiatric hold for second time this year as police are called

Amanda Bynes, 37, has been placed on psychiatric hold for a second time this year.

The former Hollywood actress was detained by police earlier this week and was reportedly taken in custody for a mental health evaluation reports TMZ.

They claim the former child movie star had called the authorities for help, which comes after sources revealed that Amanda was deemed a “danger to herself and those around her”.

With Amanda being placed on a mandatory psychiatric hold, she can be held for up to 72 hours by law.

This is the second time Amanda has been put on psychiatric hold this year.

Amanda has been reportedly placed on psychiatric hold

In March, the movie star was filmed walking the streets of Los Angeles naked, with the former actress allegedly flagging down a car and confessing to the driver that she was coming down from a psychiatric episode.

At the time, sources confessed to TMZ that Amanda had been “living on the stress for days”, with her ex-fiance, Paul Michael, confessing that she had probably been “off her meds”.

Amanda, who was diagnosed with substance abuse and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was hospitalised for nearly three weeks.

The child star was freed from an eight-year conservatorship in March 2022.

Amanda was released from the conservatorship after proving that she was of sound mental capacity to give “informed consent to any form of medical treatment.”

A judge first granted Amanda’s mother, Lynn, conservatorship of her daughter in 2013.

Her parents requested the conservatorship after the former child star was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital for allegedly setting a fire in her parent’s driveway.

Amanda’s parents testified in court that the former actress had been experiencing extremely erratic behaviour, including expressing paranoia over being watched and followed.

The actress also experienced multiple run-ins with police throughout the years.

In 2012, she was arrested and charged in Los Angeles with driving on a suspended license, which was suspended after she was charged with driving under the influence and a misdemeanour hit-and-run.
