Amanda Holden reveals Les Dennis seduced her with Corrie Mavis Riley impression

Amanda Holden previously that her ex-husband Les Dennis used to impersonate Coronation Street’s Mavis Riley (Thelma Barlow) in the bedroom.

Amanda, 52, was married to comedian Les from 1995 to 2003, with the Heart FM radio presenter in her 20s when they tied the knot. The Strictly Come Dancing star, 69, was known for doing impressions of the iconic Corrie character with the line: “I don’t really know.”

Back in 2008, Amanda was filming auditions for the second series of Britain’s Got Talent when she revealed to fellow judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan that her ex-husband used the signature catchphrase to woo her in bed.

One audience member told the Daily Star Sunday: “The three judges were having a joke with the warm-up host who comes out before the acts to get the crowd going. He started flirting with Amanda and having a bit of banter, when out of the blue she admitted Les used to do his Mavis impression for her in bed.

“It sounded like it was their way of foreplay. The audience thought it was hilarious and so did Simon and Piers, though they were pretty speechless.” Amanda and Les first met while performing in The Sound of Music in 1993 and the couple tied the knot two years later.

But their marriage ended in tatters when it was revealed the actress had an affair with her Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey. Amanda first crossed paths with Neil, 61, on the set of BBC’s Happy Birthday Shakespeare.

After news of their affair broke, Amanda told Daily Mail that the media scrutiny was the “worst time of her life”. She said: “I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again. It was a very dark time. It got to the point where I felt I could hardly breathe.” The mum-of-two addressed her infidelity in her autobiography, No Holding Back – My Story, insisting she “hated” herself for lying.

“I knew in my heart that my marriage was on the rocks, but the guilt was unbearable and I hated myself for being so deceitful,” she wrote. “I’d lie awake at night, feeling how wrong this was, and wanting to stop it. I absolutely hated myself.”

Les found love again with former HR professional Claire Nicholson and the couple got married in 2009 four years after meeting at a charity event. The couple share two children; daughter Eleanor, 15, and son Thomas, 12, while the TV star has a son from his first marriage to Lynne Webster.

While Amanda has been happily married to record producer Chris Hughes since 2008. They have two daughters together, Alexa, 17, and Hollie, born in 2012.
