EastEnders legend John Altman reckons his TV mum’s funeral was too short.
The actor tuned in to see Walford residents bid farewell to Dot Cotton, who was played by June Brown, in a special episode last month.

John, who portrayed her wayward son Nick, was disappointed there was not more old footage.
Speaking at the opening of Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios, he said: “It seemed to be quite quick. They should have done an hour-long episode to pay homage to her. They could have put in some old scenes from over the years.
“But I do think they did June justice. I liked the cigarettes being thrown onto the coffin. June would have liked that.”
Dot’s funeral aired last month though actress June, 95, died last April.
John added: “It was quite bizarre. I went to her real funeral and then I watched the one on TV. I was quite moved by it. I found it very emotional.”
John and June worked together on the BBC soap for decades and became two of the most iconic characters in TV history.
John added: “Dot was just a wonderful character. She was an eccentric, English character. People had an affection for her.”
Dot Cotton’s funeral aired in December on the BBC One soap and multiple famous faces returned to say their goodbyes to the beloved Walford resident.
Jacqueline Jossa returned to the soap for the funeral of Dot, along with Colin Russell, played by Lord Michael Cashman CBE, Barry Clark, played by Gary Hailes, George ‘Lofty’ Holloway, played by Tom Watt, Mary ‘the punk’ Smith, played by Linda Davidson and Disa O’Brien, played by Jan Graveson.
Adam Woodyatt also made a surprise appearance as Ian Beale returned to the soap for the first time since January 2021 to pay his respects.
John was unable to make a return to the soap as his character Nick Cotton died in February 2015 after a heroin overdose.
The funeral for the beloved Dot aired months after June’s passing on April 3, 2022.
