Mary had her first date but it didn’t go well.

She told Rhona “don’t ask” before explaining the woman seemed very flirty and bold in her messages, but more passive in the flesh. She then explained it had come to light the woman’s children had been sending the messages on her behalf.

Not put off, Mary said she had another date that afternoon. She said that after wanting to “go for it” for decades, she wasn’t going to let one bad experience put her off.

Later, Mary came into the Woolpack and began chatting to Bob after he served her a glass of wine.

However, some viewers were left confused as to how she had paid for the drink after spotting what was in her hand.

Beneath her wine glass, a Tesco Clubcard could be seen in a number of shots.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Has… Mary just bought a drink in the Woolpack with her Tesco Clubcard? I actually can’t unsee this.”

Another added: “Mary paying with her Tesco Clubcard?”

A third person said: “I noticed this aswell” with a series of laughing face emojis.

A fourth social media said: ” I didn’t realise the Woolpack took Tesco Clubcard points as payment.’

Fans will have to wait and see if Mary finds the woman of her dreams.

Rhona struggled with her mum’s sexuality at first but has since been supportive and is helping her find “the one”.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
