GMB’s Richard Madeley ‘slapped down’ as The Chase star praised for correcting him

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to applaud The Chase star Shaun Wallace after he corrected Richard Madeley on human migration.

Richard and his co-host Kate Garraway were back in the hot seat on Wednesday (August 16) and were later joined by Shaun to discuss the latest newspaper headlines.

With the discussion turning to asylum seekers attempting to enter the UK, Richard gave a controversial take suggesting that migrants had the help of “bent” lawyers who would “coach” them to lie in order to come to UK shores.

However, Shaun, who is a qualified barrister, quickly corrected the presenter, highlighting the number of lawyers who partake in such activity is very small.

The Chase brainbox said: “Can I just say that is a very small percentage of lawyers and the vast majority of lawyers do give proper and sensible advice.”

After seeing their frosty exchange, fans headed straight to Twitter to praise Shaun.

One viewer said: “Shaun Wallace slapping down Madeley.”

Another said: “Good old Shaun… not taking any nonsense from Richard Madeley about lawyers…”

A third penned: “Yes, @GMB, there were unprofessional lawyers coaching asylum seekers. And action has been taken to stop them. We should not condemn all lawyers because of the actions of a few.”

While a fourth added: “Good to see Madeley getting his a**e politely and firmly handed to him by a barrister when he parroted the Daily Vile’s attack on immigration lawyers.”

But this isn’t the first time this week Richard has come under fire from viewers at home.

On Tuesday (August 15), GMB fans were left disgruntled when they accused the 69-year-old of only reading out certain tweets on the show.

While discussing the recent developments regarding Donald Trump after he was charged with trying to overturn the 2020 election illegally, Richard appeared to insinuate that viewers were still on Trump’s side.

However many on Twitter agreed that Richard was being selective with the Tweets he read out on the show.

Sharing their frustrations, one spectator took to Twitter and wrote: “Someone please take the Twitter feed from Madeley, I’m not sure he knows how it works considering his very selective use of it.”

While another penned: “Madeley is LYING!! Most people on Twitter and email are against Trump, not for him.”
