The Chase fans were distracted by one of the contestants trying their luck on the latest episode of the ITV quiz show.
Trudy, Tom, Simon and Gurbinder were welcomed to the studio by presenter Bradley Walsh during Wednesday’s instalment (November 1) and they each took it in turns going up against Chaser Mark Labbett, aka The Beast, in a head-to-head rounds of general knowledge questions.
However, viewers at home were more interested in getting to know player Trudy, with one fan even offering to marry her as she wowed him with “beauty”.

I’ll have to tell my girlfriend first but let’s not let details get in the way, of a beautiful thing.” Another added: “Trudy is cracking.” A third person gushed: “Brains and beauty , Trudy.” The group ended up beating The Beast in the Final Chase and went home with a share of the £21,000 prize fund.
The latest episode aired following the heartbreaking news that former contestant Pete had sadly died following a house fire. He appeared on Tuesday’s (October 31) throwback episode and fans took to X pay to tribute to the “legend” who died in his home on June 27, 2021.
One social media user said: “I remember Pete, he died didn’t he RIP”, followed by a sad emoji face. Another penned: “Beloved Pete, God Bless him. Rest in Eternal Peace.” A third heartbroken viewer said: “Can’t watch this without feeling a bit sad.” And a fourth added: “RIP Pete, he seemed like a lovely man.”
As well as the viewer’s responses, chaser Paul Sinha, known as The Sinnerman, also shared his tributes online. He wrote: “Saddened to hear that Pete from today’s Chase has since passed away in horrible circumstances. A true gentleman, a warm, engaging and thoroughly entertaining opponent.”
Commenting under the post, one viewer gave more insight into the contestant’s life. They wrote: “Pete was the Town Crier and lived about 500m from my house. It was a great shock to the local community. He had a great send-off with a horse-drawn procession through the town centre, with his family and Steam Punk friends following.”

The TV star then replied: “That is really lovely to hear, Audrey. X.” Meanwhile another viewer who lived in Pete’s area, Wymondham said: “This man was well known in a local town and sadly passed away in a house fire a few months ago.” His family shared a touching tribute online about him, writing: “You touched so many lives and leave us all with the fondest memories, which will carry us through the tough times ahead.
“A much-loved character across Wymondham, re-enactment and steampunk communities to name but a few. Father of four, grandfather to eight, and companion to Kiki the Jack Russell. You will be sorely missed.” He managed to make it to the final. However his team was caught by the chaser with seconds to spare.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 5pm
