Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has admitted she feels “helpless” following the catastrophic earthquakes in Syria and Turkey earlier this week.

The TV shepherdess took to Twitter on Tuesday night (February 7) to share her heartbreak amid during the crisis.

It comes after over 9,000 people [as of Wednesday] are known to have been killed following two huge earthquakes on Monday, with warnings that the death toll could continue to surge.

Amanda was emotional as she posted a photo of her children in front of her 208k followers, where she wondered how to help.

She wrote: “Beyond comprehension to imagine the utter devastation in aftermath of earthquakes. Lives destroyed in the blink of an eye, feel helpless. What to do?

“Donate… pray… reflect on how fortunate we are? Saw Reubs watching excavators sifting through rubble on TV, where would you start? [emoji with a tear].”

Amanda’s followers shared in her sadness, with one writing: “It’s unimaginable Amanda, I can’t even begin to think how awful it must be in Turkey at the moment.”

Another said: “It’s a reality check for sure. All my trivial problems seem so pathetic right now. I have to stop myself thinking about all the people still trapped as we speak. Not being able to help them. Thank god for the rescue teams arriving to do what I can’t.”

A third added: “So tragic and heartbreaking.”

The first 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the early hours of Monday morning before a 7.5 magnitude quake hours later.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that the death toll in Turkey could pass 20k.

Devastating scenes saw buildings collapse around its residents, and now an urgent rescue operation is underway in a bid to save as many citizens trapped underneath the wreckage.

Orhan Tatar, an official at the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), confirmed that the quakes collapsed over 5700 buildings and injured 20,426 people.
