A clinical reviewer for the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman found: “When clinical readings first showed that Mr Denning needed emergency care, he was not transferred to hospital for treatment.” The reviewer claimed the care he received in custody was “worse” than he could have expected to receive as a free man.

The report stayed it found “issues of concern in Mr Denning’s end of life care.”

Denning was jailed in 2006 after admitting five charges of abusing boys under 16 and put in prison for four years. After the case, he was extradited to Slovakia and sentenced to five years for producing indecent images of children.

When the Met Police launched Operation Yewtree which saw them investigate claims of sex abuse, Jimmy Savile was exposed, as was Denning. He was convicted of 40 offences against 24 boys aged between nine and 16.

The court heard he had taken victims to the Top of the Pops recording and introduced them to Savile. Judge Alistair McCreath labelled Denning “utterly depraved” and sentenced him to 13 years.

He interviewed The Beatles during this time and helped launch the career of Gary Glitter while working on Bell Records. However in the 1970s, he was exposed as a sex offender and later convicted of gross indecency in 1974.

In 1998, he was jailed for three years for indecent assault and possessing indecent images. In 1996, he was prosecuted for publishing indecent articles.
