Paramount+ fans say they’ve found ‘perfect’ show for Halloween in ‘disturbing’ series

Paramount+ users have declared they’ve found the “perfect” show to watch over the Halloween period, thanks to its spooky and “disturbing” plot.

The show, The Burning Girls, sees actress Samantha Morton take on the role of a Vicar, Jack Brooks, who moves with her daughter to a remote village for a new start. However it doesn’t take long before she learns there are some horrifying secrets within its depths – quite literally.

With religious martyrs burned at the stake and dodgy characters, as well as grim flashback scenes hinting at another devastating sub-plot, every episode keeps viewers on their toes. And fans have been loving the six-episode series.

A third wrote: “Just finished watching the adaptation of The Burning Girls by CJ Tudor on Paramount+ and it is a brilliant adaptation of the book. It reminded me just how good the story was, and how brilliant those twists were. I might have to give the book another read.”

The limited series also stars Bridgerton star Ruby Stokes, who plays Samantha Morton’s daughter Flo. Samantha said of the show: “I was immediately drawn to this character-led script, brought to life by a wonderfully talented and dedicated cast.

“On the surface The Burning Girls is about community, but underneath it’s every man for themselves. Untangling this intricate web was an absolute thrill.”

For those who have not read the book, they will be treated in the final episode when all of the twists come to fruition. They will also learn how all of the flashback scenes link to the present day.

Daily Star has watched the series and would definitely recommend. But maybe keep a light on if you do.

The Burning Girls is available to stream on Paramount+ now
