BBC Radio 1 star announces pregnancy live on air and leaves co-stars speechless

BBC Radio 1 presenter, Katie Thistleton, has shared her pregnancy news live on air. The 35-year-old, who co-hosts the drive-time show with Vick Hope and Jamie Laing, unveiled the joyous news during a live broadcast on Wednesday, 30 while hosting a quiz for her colleagues, Mollie King and Matt Edmondson.

Setting up her big reveal, she asked: “I’ve got a question for you guys and that is: What is the last message that you were sent on WhatsApp? So if you could all open your WhatsApps, please.”

As Matt and Molly checked their phones, they erupted in screams of delight as Katie announced: “I’ve just sent Matt and Mollie a scan photo and a message saying me and Alex are having a baby. I was so scared that that would go wrong, like the WiFi wouldn’t send it.”

Congratulating her friend on the “great news”, The Saturdays star, Molly, who is also expecting her second child, asked Katie how she was feeling. The expectant mum replied: “I mean, oh my god Mollie I’ve wanted to talk to you about this so much.

Fans were thrilled for the star

“There was a day when you walked past us and I was like, ‘how are you’ and you were like, ‘I’ve been so sick’ and I was thinking, ‘me too I’m so sick but I can’t tell anyone yet’. But yeah, I’m due in March so not that far behind you really.”

Katie couldn’t contain her excitement as she took to Instagram with a heartwarming video featuring her and her beau Alex, marking their third wedding anniversary with a bombshell announcement. “We’ve been married three gorgeous years today. It feels like a good time to announce the next chapter. Watch for a surprise,” she penned, accompanied by a string of baby-themed emojis, reports the Mirror.

Congratulations Katie and Alex!

The post sent fans and radio pals into a frenzy of well-wishes in the comments. Natalie O’Leary was overjoyed: “OMG GUYS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Crying, this is the best best best news ever congratulations,” Clara Amfo chimed in with a sweet “Congratulations sweet thing! ” and Charlie Hedges couldn’t help but express her joy: “So so happy for you both, the most beautiful news ever.”
