Gladiators icon left huge amount in will after cancer death despite short TV career

Late Gladiators star Falcon reportedly left a fortune to her family despite her short TV career.

The star – whose real name was Bernadette Hunt – died last year at the age of 59 after being diagnosed with cancer. It has now been reported that she left close to £300,000 for her children.

According to The Sun, documents showed that Falcon left an eye-watering £444,000 in her estate when she died in March. After costs and other payments, £293,000 of the hefty sum remained, which was then passed to the TV star’s son Adam and daughter Angel.

Falcon was on the sports entertainment show’s original run back in the 90s. The former ballet dancer joined the series in its second season in 1993 and stayed on the show until it ended seven years later, with Queen’s 1989 hit Breakthru serving as her theme tune.

After her stint on television she stepped back from the limelight, raising her two children. However, she continued to work in the fitness world as a personal trainer.

Her death was announced last year in a moving message on Gladiators’ Instagram account. It said: “It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Falcon (Bernadette Hunt) died on the 14th March at the age of 59 after battling cancer for a number of years.

“Bernadette entered the @GladiatorsTV arena as ‘Falcon’ during the second series in 1993 and instantly became a firm fan favourite. She stayed with the show until its final series in 1999, becoming the second longest-serving female Gladiator.”

It said the star was also a champion bodybuilder, winning the first competition she entered in 1992 – Miss Natural Health. Others titles over the years included Miss Novice Britain, Miss London and Home Counties 1992 and Miss South Britain.

“Many fans will remember Falcon as the most lovely, warm, generous person with a beaming smile!” the post went on. “Our Gladiator family is truly heartbroken with our loss of Bernie.”

Gladiators originally aired from 1992 to 2000, and was briefly resurrected in 2008. Then last year it came back with a bang, launching a new series that was a massive hit. The series used to be presented by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu but the new incarnation of the show is hosted by The Chase star Bradley Walsh and his son Barney.
