Saturday Kitchen guest Kate Carter-Larg has shared her response to the ridiculous backlash she has faced since starring on the BBC show.
Kate, 35, co-owns The Cheesy Toast Shack alongside her husband Sam, 39, and showcased their delicious recipes on Saturday’s (October 26) episode. But some fans seemed to be more concerned with her outfit choice instead of her glorious grub.
The successful businesswoman and mum-of-two has sadly received thousands of comments slating her outfit for being “too inappropriate” for TV, despite the fact she was wearing a simple brown strapless top which was paired with denim jeans.

Luckily, Kate has managed to see the funny side of things but is wary that some people may not be as “thick-skinned” as her. Kate exclusively told us: “If you know me in real life or look at our social media page, I literally wear a strapless top all the time as I live by the beach.
“It’s not like I wore a thong and nipple tassels – but that’s how everyone is reacting,” she laughed. “I thought I was going on TV to show off our toasties – I didn’t even think about my arms being on show!”
She continued: “The comments have been awful, you just can’t win. People were picking holes in me for touching and adjusting my top, I didn’t even realise I was doing it but people were like ‘She just needs to have bigger boobs’. Seriously, who do they think they are commenting on what a woman should wear? It’s not the 1950s, it’s 2024!”
“Luckily, I’ve got a thick skin and I’ve had way more serious things happen in my life, so I can handle it but another person might not be able to. I feel confident in the fact I am married and have great friends and family, I am genuinely happy, but I worry for others who might not have those things.”
Kate’s Street Vendor of the Year Winner toastie business raises money for charity every month by raising funds for Alzheimer’s UK. The entrepreneur added: “It’s a shame and really sad none of that was even touched upon. It was brushed under the carpet.
“Instead, people wanted to concentrate on trying to pull a woman down very publicly. It’s really not ok to troll people, as much as I can take it, not everybody can.”
Kate will be continuing to concentrate on her business and developing it to be “bigger and better”. She added: “We love being down in St Andrews ourselves and seeing our regulars and meeting new faces. We are very grateful to our customers and amazing staff.”
And we think Kate looked just as amazing as her toasties which can be found here.
