Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift go head to head in Grammy Awards 2021 nominations

Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Megan Thee Stallion are all leading the pack for the 2021 Grammy Award Nominations.

Both Dua and Taylor have been nominated for Album of the Year for their records Future Nostalgia and Folklore.

Joining them on the shortlist is Jhené Aiko for CHILOMBO, Black Pumas for their self titled album and Coldplay for Everyday Life.

Jacob Collier, Haim and Post Malone complete the category.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus’ little sister Noah has been nominated in the the Best New Artist category.

Taylor and Dua have also picked up notations for Song of the Year.

Taylor’s comeback single Cardigan was given a nod while Dua’s Don’t Start Now has been nominated.

Beyoncé’s Black Parade has earned her a nomination in the category as well as Everything I Wanted by music superstar Billie Eilish.

Best Music Video sees Beyoncé pick up a second nomination for Brown Skin Girl alongside One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles for his Adore You clip.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Taylor have all been nominated in the Best Pop Vocal category.

Making history, all of the people nominated in the Best Rock Performance are women.

They are Fiona Apple’s Shameika, Phoebe Bridgers’ Kyoto, Haim’s The Steps, Brittany Howard’s Stay High, Grace Potter’s Daylight and Not by the band Big Thief.

Speaking about her recording breaking album Folklore in the trailer for her upcoming Disney+ special, Taylor said: “There is something about the complete and total uncertainly of life.

“If we are going to have to recalibrate everything then we should start with what we love the most first.”

She adds: “It is an album that allows you to feel your feelings and it a product of isolation.

“This could have been a time when I absolutely lost my mind and instead I think, you know, this album was a real flotation device for both of us.”

The superstar adds: “”I am so glad, as it turned out that everybody needed a good cry as well as us.

“It makes you think about life a lot to where this moment could effect everything for ever.”

The 63rd GRAMMY Awards are set to take place on Sunday, Jan. 31.

It’s not yet know in what format the ceremony will go head due to the ongoing pandemic.
