Pirates Of The Caribbean star Keira Knightley has previously been vocal about abuse and the sexual assaults she’s experienced in the past.
But now, the star has spoken openly about the precautions she takes when walking home, as she’s unaware of anyone who hasn’t been “harassed” or violently “assaulted”.
Talking candidly about her experience with UK’s Harper Bazaar Keira, 36, expressed that she often finds being so cautious “depressing”.
Mum-of-two Keira, 36, said: “It was when women started listing all the precautions they take when they walk home to make sure they’re safe, and I thought, I do every single one of them, and I don’t even think about it. It’s f******g depressing.
“Literally, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been (harassed), in some way, whether it’s being flashed at, or groped, or some guy saying they’re going to slit your throat, or punching you in the face, or whatever it is, everybody has.”
The London-born The Duchess actress – who married her ex-Klaxons keyboardist husband James Righton, 37, in 2013 – revealed in 2018 she had been sexually assaulted four times on nights out.
She added in an interview with the July issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine, which is on sale on Wednesday, her rage over the harassment of women is “probably” why she’s now enjoying listening to audiobooks of writer Manda Scott’s series of novels about ferocious female Celt warrior Boudica.
Her comments come after the March murder of marketing executive Sarah Everard, 33, in south London prompted an outpouring of horror stories from women about their public safety.
In 2014, the actress revealed she would often receive verbal abuse while being interviewed.
The star was also asked whether she would encourage her young daughter to start acting at young age like she did but the mum said she definitely would not.

“Oh, 100%, I’d absolutely tell her not to. I would 150 million-trillion per cent be totally discouraging.”
