Ryan Reynolds’ ‘ball sack’ had Sandra Bullock looking away in ‘humiliating’ nude scene

Exactly what goes on during the filming of Hollywood sex scenes often remains a mystery to viewers.

But Sandra Bullock revealed exactly what went down during her naked moment with Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal.

The 58-year-old actor played Reynolds’ boss in the 2009 romantic comedy and in one steamy scene, the pair collide in a naked tangle as she gets out of the shower and he strips off his clothes after a run.

The hilarious scene sees the actors tumble to the ground before panicking about each other’s completely naked bodies.

But Bullock revealed it was just as awkward in real life, admitting she had to fight to “not look” after Reynolds had an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

Opening up about the scene during an appearance on the About Last Night podcast, Bullock told host Adam Ray: “Ryan and I have known each other since we were prepubescent, we go way, way, way back.”

She revealed on the day of filming for the naked scene they had a closed set, with just hair and makeup present to “fluff and hide” things, as well as the film’s director, Anne Fletcher.

Recalling exactly how the scene was shot, Bullock added: “Ryan and I have these flesh-coloured things stuck to our privates, my hair is strategically over the nipples and Ryan’s little— not little, at all! It’s just whatever’s there, and I don’t know because I didn’t see it, I didn’t look!”

She went on to explain that Reynolds’ genitals were “protected and caressed and stuck wherever it needed to be stuck”

She said after they “collided together” the director would say cut but neither of them could “really move”.

This meant Reynolds was left “on his back with his knees up” with Bullock “resting on his knees, just waiting.”

Bullock revealed the moment was already pretty awkward, adding: “You don’t wanna look.”

But as she attempted to keep her eyes off Reynolds, things quickly got worse as a malfunction with their flesh-coloured coverings left him exposed.

Bullock explained: “I hear Anne Fletcher from the darkness go, ‘Ryan, we can see your ball sack!’ I’m like, ‘Oh God!’ because you wanna look down, but I’m like, ‘Don’t look down. Don’t look down,’”

She said the director’s loud announcement meant everyone in the darkness behind the scenes “spun around to see if they could find a monitor.”

“I was like, ‘Anne, there’s a way to present that information’,” Bullock added.

Despite everyone else attempting to get a look, Bullock revealed she continued to keep her eyes averted.

She said: “In friendship, you just didn’t care; it wasn’t my business to look, it’s just there, and then Anne just bringing everyone’s focus to that area.”

But while she was left flustered by the awkward moment, Bullock revealed Reynolds wasn’t phased and commended him for his professionalism.

She said: “Ryan was just so cool, unflappable. He is absolutely unflappable.”

During the podcast, Bullock also revealed she refused to make the naked scene “sexy”.

She explained: “I was like, ‘I will do this naked scene only if I can be humiliated and funny. You will not see me trying to attempt being sexy naked—in real life or onscreen.

“There’s just no point in it! It was for that reason, with a friend that you trusted comedically, and safety-wise I knew I was in the presence of safety.”
