Stephen Tompkinson concerns fans as he tears up over ‘nightmare’ GBH trial on Lorraine

Stephen Tompkinson left plenty of fans concerned after he opened up about his “nightmare” GBH trial on ITV’s Lorraine.

Stephen, 57 was found not guilty on Thursday (May 11) of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a drunken man who alleged he had punched him.

The TV star, who has appeared on shows like Drop the Dead Donkey and DCI Banks, had been accused of lashing out at Karl Poole in 2021 who was with a friend at the time.

And now, in his first interview since he walked away, Stephen has recalled the difficult past couple of years.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday (May 19) Stephen also revealed he suffered more heartbreak just six weeks after the alleged assault.

“What an absolute nightmare,” Loraine said, referring to the past two years.

“Yes,” he replied, before adding: “Well not so much for me. I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong.”

He then recalled the incident which saw two men, who were the “definition of drunk and disorderly”, turning up at his partner’s home.

“They were swigging from a full fire bottle of Jagermeister,” he added,

“And it turns out the chap was four times over the drink-drive limit.”

He then revealed how he called the cops over safety concerns, but they “then turned a bit nasty and turned on me”.

“I stopped one of them with my open palm, and because of the state he was in he took a tumble and fell about eight feet away from me.”

“Jess has been so amazing,” he gushed.

He then went on to reveal how six weeks later, Jess’ parents were ultimately killed in a horror car accident after a driver was “sexting on an adult dating hook up site” – causing his car to “plow into them 56 miles an hour, killing them instantly”.

“That’s horrendous,” Lorraine gasped.

“If you ever needed an example of strength and a shining light she has been that throughout, and looked after me through this, and I’ll never be able to thank her enough.”

Viewers watching the emotional interview soon rushed to Twitter to share their concern over Stephen.

“He’s not looking well,” said one viewer, with another echoing them.

While a third rallied behind Stephen, writing: “Awful comments on Twitter re Stephen Tompkinson. Wishing him all the best.”
