Britain’s Got Talent in fresh ‘fix’ row before final as fans fume act was ‘rigged’

ITV viewers were absolutely livid with Britain’s Got Talent after Friday’s episode (May 31).

The semi-final, which sets the stage for Sunday’s much-anticipated finale, had fans on the edge of their seats. However, eagle-eyed watchers spotted some sneaky details in the latest show that had them up in arms, accusing the judges of fixing the results in favour of one act.

Comedy act Alex Mitchell and illusionist Trixy secured their spots in the upcoming final, with Alex getting the most public votes and sailing straight through, while Trixy was handpicked by the judges over visually impaired musicians Denise and Stefan.

Social media has been ablaze with claims of a setup to benefit Trixy, starting with his performance antics. He kicked off by having everyone whip out their mobiles for a calculator trick, asking judge Bruno Tonioli for his wake-up time.

“8.45am,” Bruno answered, and Trixy had the crowd punch 845 into their calculators before Alesha Dixon disclosed there were 3,000 folks in the studio, which was added to the total. Amanda Holden’s 1.04am bedtime became 104 in the mix, and finally, host Dec was asked for a random six-figure number, reports the Mirror.

After all the additions, Trixy hit them with the equals sign, and the result? A precise 315, 823, announced bang on 8.23pm on May 31, leaving the audience gobsmacked.

Trixy took to the BGT stage

However, not all viewers were convinced, with some on X, previously known as Twitter, suggesting that Dec must have been privy to the astonishing act. “Trixy, that wasn’t actual magic. its numbers, which dec had an earpiece in for,” one viewer speculated.

Another chimed in: “Trixy, it’s not magic when Dec is in on it giving the specific number that’s needed to make today’s date. Old trick using a specific app to give you the number needed.”

Later, when the judges had to choose between Trixy and Denise and Stefan, Bruno opted for the latter. Alesha described the decision as a “nightmare”, but sided with Trixy, mirroring the choices of Simon and Amanda.

The conspiracy theories reignited when Alesha stated she was choosing the magician to “balance” the votes, making it easier for the others to advance him.

“Alesha said, ‘I’m going to balance it out and pick Trixy’ and then the last two pick Trixy,” another disgruntled fan vented on X, attaching a gif that read “It was fixed”. A final theory of manipulation emerged as sharp-eyed viewers noticed something during the magician’s live performance.

With most live TV subtitles, there’s a slight delay as the programme isn’t pre-recorded. A live speech recognition device generates the subtitles as the show unfolds, but with non-live shows, the text is pre-loaded.

However, fans couldn’t help but observe that last night’s subtitles seemed to load instantly, with one person commenting on X: “I’m 99% sure this act is a fix because the subtitles are preloaded, if it was live they’d be on a delay.”
