Gordon Ramsay's daughter Holly was hospitalised with PTSD after sexual assaults

Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly has revealed she was sexually assaulted twice when she was 18, causing a nightmare battle with PTSD which led to her spending three months in a mental health hospital.

The 21-year-old daughter praised her celebrity chef dad, 54, for supporting her through the trauma after she opened up about the experience the year after.

Speaking out bravely about her horrific past on her 21 & Over podcast, she explained: “I went to university, studied fashion design, and I loved it. But by the second half of the first year I was being affected by my PTSD and I had no idea that this was happening.

“I was going out a lot, missing class because I’d been out. I wasn’t enjoying myself at all. I was struggling a lot.

“The PTSD was a result of two sexual assaults when I was 18. I didn’t tell anyone about it until a year afterwards. I just buried it in a box in the back of my mind.”

Holly had previously ended up leaving her university – Ravensbourne University in London – after her mental health worsened and she was admitted to Marylebone’s Nightingale Hospital – which is the city’s only private mental health hospital.

She continued: “That was where I was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression.

“Since then, I have been in therapy up to three times a week. I now have these diagnoses that I carry around with me.

“It’s confusing and I’m trying to take control of my narrative and use that to make something good.”

Holly was grateful for her “amazing” family’s help, praising dad Gordon alongside her mum Tana, 46, her sisters Megan, 23, and Tilly, 19, her twin Jack, and her youngest brother Oscar, 2, for giving her “the greatest unconditional support”.

Holly, who has reportedly been considered for this year’s series of Love Island, also added: “It’s brought me closer to them in many ways.

“I’ve lost friends. It’s definitely a journey. But I hope that by speaking out I can help other people.”

Holly is now a student at Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design having started in October.

She has helped manage the social media accounts for her father’s famous restaurants.

Holly has also opened up about her mental health battles to her 273 thousand followers on Instagram, writing in one post: “I hope we can continue to break the stigma surrounding our mental health.

“Asking for help is not only the bravest thing you can do, but it is also your first step to reaching a happier & healthier you.”
