Emmerdale fans confused by 'overnight' Marlon Dingle change after tragic stroke

Emmerdale fans have been left scratching their heads after seeing Marlon Dingle on Wednesday night (November 16).

Poor Marlon (Mark Charnock) has been faced with serious health battles this year in the ITV village as he fell victim to a life-changing stroke back in March.

The scary stroke happened shortly after Marlon proposed to Rhona and he was rushed to hospital, later suffering from severely impaired speech and mobility as a result.

Marlon has required rehabilitation in order to get his movement and speech back on track, but he’s had a number of nasty setbacks during his recovery period, such as when he developed pneumonia during another hospital visit.

Fans noticed Marlon had been talking a lot better

But eagle-eyed fans were confused when they saw him consoling Naomi on Wednesday night as they noticed his speech was remarkably better.

In fact, some couldn’t work out why his ability to talk had improved so much so quickly and took to Twitter to comment on it during the episode.

One fan wrote: “Marlon seems better and talking normal all of a sudden”, to which another fan agreed: “My thoughts exactly.”

A second asked: “Whoa! How comes Marlon is fully recovered…overnight”

A third said: “Marlon is almost recovered”, with a fourth adding: “Marlon speech is perfect now… just the walking better part now.”

Mark recently teased that it would be a “long road to recovery” for the chef, who first suffered the stroke only months ago.

Mark Charnock has insisted it is set to be a long recovery for Marlon

Despite his seemingly speedy recovery, when asked if it would be a long time before Marlon was back to strength the actor told Radio Times: “As it should be really. We’re really lucky to work in a genre where we can tell a story day by day – you almost feel like you see it in real time.

“It’s been an amazing journey. The best thing about the journey has been raising awareness. The response, with people sharing stories on social media, has been overwhelming.

“I personally was quite nervous about getting it right – it felt like a big responsibility to survivors and family members. I’ve been nervous but it’s been really rewarding.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
