Emmerdale fans were left in tears after a shocking death came at the finale of a tough episode on Wednesday evening.
The Yorkshire soap has had some barn-storming storylines in 2022 so far, including the fall of Meena, Liv’s prison attack and Gabby’s shotgun debacle.
And last night’s episode was no different, with viewers glued to the screen as producers dealt deeper with both Leyla’s addiction issues as well as Faith Dingle and how she’s coping with her cancer diagnosis.

Just as things seemed to be reaching a grim conclusion, we got another shock – partly involving Faith’s daughter Chas Dingle.
All episode long, we had seen glimpses of Al Chapman dressed to the nines, with viewers and villagers questioning where he was going. After a confrontation between Al and Chas, we got the answer.
Al had been to a funeral: his father’s.
The revelation caused a buzz on Twitter, as Leeds Live reports, with @chrisste245 posting: “Poor Al, what a difficult time for him # emmerdale.” While @EmpHill389 added: “Now we know where Al was dressed like that #rip.”
Some viewers felt we might be in for a week of deep storylines in Emmerdale. Additionally, @itzzzo_ commented: “And if you’ve been affected by issues raised in tonight’s programme, don’t come back for Al and Chas tomorrow #Emmerdale.” Another @Ockeghem1497 commented: “Just ignore her Al. #Emmerdale.”
Some Emmerdale viewers have blasted show bosses after they received “yet another” warning of “distressing scenes” before an episode of the soap opera.

The warning has been a regular fixture of late on the drama-filled series, with some viewers saying they’re switching off as the show has become “too dark., including on Wednesday’s show.
Actress Nicola Wheeler, who plays Nicola King, opened up about filming recent scenes, which she described as “menacing”, as fans saw Nicola attacked by a group of teenage girls.
Nicola will suffer a breakdown as she struggles with the aftermath of the traumatic event.
On filming the forthcoming episodes, Nicola admits that they were “tough”.
“It is quite menacing when you’re on the ground looking up and there’s a circle of people around you.
“I really wouldn’t want to be in that scenario,” she told The Sunday Express and other press.
