Strictly Come Dancing expert reveals 'real reason' Will Mellor was eliminated

An expert on Strictly Come Dancing has revealed what she believes is the real reason Will Mellor was eliminated in the semi-final of the competition last week.

The Two Pints of Larger star was sent home after dancing off against Fleur East.

Now Dance and Sports Science pro Dr Jill Rose Jacobs, has claimed that the responsibility of his dismal performance was down to the wardrobe department, with Will having previously revealed that he feared his cape could stop him from reaching the final.

Dr Jill told Heart Bingo: “Without question, the weakest routine of the evening was Will’s Paso Doble, which I would argue was undercut by the costume.

“Will is observably emotional, though he may not be analytical about the effect of the costumes on his performances.”

She went on to detail Will’s outfit for the Paso Doble, which saw him wear a mesh shirt, flower-applique vest, satin cummerbund and ill-fitting pants.

Jill added that it was his cape that caused him difficulty, saying: “Moreover, Will opened the routine with a bullfighters’ cape that was by far too small ‘to catch the air.’”

She went on to say that size of the cape was a problem for the star but acknowledged he did make several technical errors.

“As someone with flamenco training, I am certain that size does matter.

“The matador uses the cape to anger the bull and clearly would have a large enough cape to keep the animal a good distance from his body.

“Will’s performance had other technical dance errors, as did other contestants, yet his routine was undercut by the costume.”

Last week’s Strictly Come Dancing was pushed back to Sunday for the main show and Monday for the results after Saturday’s World Cup match aired on BBC One. Sadly for actor Will, it was his time to go as he narrowly missed out on this week’s final after the judges opted to save Fleur after the two found themselves in the dance-off.

The decision has sparked a backlash from fans of the BBC competition with some arguing Fleur should have been eliminated because she made a mistake during her routine and the judges seemingly ignored it.

“If Fleur made a mistake, why was Anton the only judge to call it out? Dance-off is meant to be judged on that dance NOT everything so far #Strictly.”

“Will & Nancy should have gone through. Based on that dance alone… Fleur made a mistake – thank you Anton for saying it. The other judges have made a mockery of the whole thing. #Strictly.”
