GMB's Piers Morgan makes £10k bet with MP Andrew Bridgen over losing ITV job

Piers Morgan has decided to wager a bet with MP Andrew Bridgen on whether he’ll lose his job at Good Morning Britain by Christmas.

Speaking on TalkRadio, the MP for North West Leicestershire announced he had a “little bet” that Piers would get sacked from the ITV show at the end of the year.

Piers, 55, heard the comments and put his money where his mouth is – placing £10,000 on the table.

Reaching out to Bridgen, the controversial Good Morning Britain host insisted the loser ought to give £10,000 to a charity of their choice.

Piers has been bombarded by Ofcom complaints in recent weeks, with certain viewers taking offence to his treatment of MPs during interviews.

It has been over two weeks since a Member of Parliament accepted the invitation to appear on the show.

Bridgen spoke out against Piers after he was branded “clueless” by the ITV star in a recent outburst.

Speaking to James Whale on TalkRadio, Bridgen claimed that Piers had been “shouting and ranting” during his interview several weeks prior.

He said: “I heard his diatribe before I actually came on and it was an interesting interview.

“I was contacted the night before and was told that someone would ring me at 7.15, so I could sort out the video link 25 minutes before.

“They kept me waiting for half an hour and I heard him having a real go about Boris Johnson and getting really quite irate and that was basically the tone of the whole interview.

“It wasn’t even an interview but a monologue. I thought the idea was that he asked some questions and I gave some answers rather than him just shouting at me.”

Piers wagered the bet over Twitter, responding to the MP’s comments

The MP suggested Piers was likely to lose his job over the controversial interviews and predicted he would leave the show by Christmas.

“I don’t think that really impresses anyone and I certainly won’t be going back on the programme so he can do what he wants with that.

“His ratings are going through the floor, not surprisingly. I’ll have a little bet that he won’t be fronting that programme by Christmas.”

Upon hearing his comments, Piers was quick to respond – putting a hefty wad of cash on the table.

He said: “Hi @ABridgen, a) I shouted at you because you were being an idiot. b) Our ratings this week have been the highest in @GMB history. c) I’ll take that bet – £10,000 to charity?”

Bridgen has yet to respond to Piers’ offer.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
