Katherine Kelly went for a booze-up at a Wetherspoon pub to make her a better actress.
The former Corrie favourite feared she had lost touch with ordinary people because she only socialised at showbiz parties.
She said: “There was a time when I was going from job to job. For one there was a scene where I had to order a drink at the bar.
“But I was thinking, ‘I don’t know what people drink now at the bars’. It had been so long since I’d been to a pub that hasn’t been some red carpet event where you’re handed a bottle of Champagne.
“I thought, ‘Do people drink lager and black any more?’. It really bothered me.”
Katherine continued: “How can you represent real life if you’re not in real life? I felt that going from job to job was diluting what I was doing. I wasn’t bringing as much richness to the characters that I play.
“So I went to a Wetherspoons with my mum. I was saying, ‘This is what people drink now, they buy a bottle of Prosecco because it’s cheaper’.
