GMB's Kate Garraway tells Edwina Currie to 'leave it' in heated PCR test row

It was certainly heating up on Good Morning Britain on Friday, when presenter Kate Garraway got into a rather heated debate with former MP Edwina Currie.

Edwina appeared on the programme with three others via video link to debate the PCR test prices and whether companies are profiteering from the expensive costs.

But Kate was forced to tell Edwina to “leave it” when discussing the possibility of having a holiday in the UK and reminded her that it wouldn’t be considered as a vacation in her case.

Mother-of-two Kate also made sure that Edwina didn’t cut her off mid sentence when she tried to answer her queries.

Although the UK is the second highest country in the world to have the most expensive PCR tests, Edwina stated that she believed no profiteering was involved.

The former MP also mentioned that UK residents should try to have a staycation instead of trying to holiday abroad.

Kate said: “I am very keen to have a holiday abroad but this is for a specific reason where I might need to travel.”

Edwina replied: “We have lots of people that have special needs who holiday in all parts of the United Kingdom. So the idea that you have to pay for these tests…”

But Kate quickly interjected and said: “I haven’t even said it’s a holiday Edwina, so let’s just you know, let’s leave it.”

Viewers at home certainly picked up on the tense debate and rushed to Twitter to share their views on the pair.

Some GMB viewers also shared their views on Edwina’s admission that no profiteering is involved in the extortionate PCR costs.

One viewer commented: “Does Edwina not realise not everyone is travelling abroad for a bloody holiday #gmb and the UK is so expensive for a holiday £1200 for a week in the Peak District or even Skeggy.”

While a third said: “Edwina working hard here to justify to extortionate prices of PCR tests so that her Tory mates can continue to take in the cash from the companies.”

“She doesn’t think there is profiteering,” another confused viewer chimed.

A new investigation has discovered that the UK one of the most expensive places in the world to purchase a PCR test for travel amid the Covid pandemic.

On average, UK residents are expected to pay £92 per test.

The United States has been classifies as the most expensive with an average cost of £119 per test. Meanwhile residents in Turkey pay an average cost of £20 for a PCR test.
