Married at First Sight couple welcome their first baby after whirlwind romance

A Married at First Sight couple has welcomed its first child together after the two were set to appear on the reality show last year.

Ally Acklan and Paul Todd were due to tie the knot after their first meeting in March 2020, but their special day was postponed due to the outbreak of the global pandemic.

But that didn’t stop these two love birds from getting together after the 33-year-old convinced the show’s producers to give him Ally’s details after he noticed an instant spark between them.

Although their episode got pulled from the dating reality show, the pair ended up falling for one another anyway and shortly moved in together in Weston-Super-Mare before they found out Ally, 36, was pregnant.

And after only knowing each other for seven months, the happy couple found out they were expecting their first child together in October, and later went on to seal the deal after Paul popped the question to his pregnant bride-to-be.

The pair welcomed their daughter, Penelope, on July 3 as they shared their touching love story to fans in a YouTube video.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the whirlwind couple as Ally explained she suffered a “traumatic” birth with Penelope who was more than a week overdue.

The happy couple couldn’t stay apart after their first meeting prior to the pandemic

Ally told fans: “The birth wasn’t easy, but it was a million times worth it. After being induced we went to the delivery suite. I was contracting like the clappers apparently. I had a trauma with the cannula.

“My heart rate was going up and had an emergency forceps delivery with an episiotomy. Sadly, I had an infection, they weren’t sure if it was sepsis, I went downhill really quickly. That was the scary part for Paul.”

The couple are set to star in the upcoming series of the reality show

Paul added: “I had no idea what was going on. All I knew was something wasn’t right. I was really worried. I was thinking, I can’t cope with a baby on my own. I didn’t want to lose the love of my life.”

This comes as the new series of Married at First Sight UK approaches its launch date on E4 after the show dropped their first teaser which gave a glimpse into the new series ahead.

The latest batch of sexy singletons will embark on the sixth series of the dramatic dating show as fans watch the couples meet each other for the first time as they say their “I Dos” at the altar.
