The Chase fans devastated by 'final episode' announcement at end of show

Fans of ITV’s hit gameshow The Chase were left gutted after the final episode of 2021 was announced on Friday, December 10.

The iconic quiz, hosted by Bradley Walsh, sees four contestants compete against a chaser in order to scoop a prize pot of cash – and fans are devastated that there will be no new episodes until 2022.

Taking to Twitter to share their upset over the final episode of the year, one fan said: “Last final #thechase of 2021.”

Another said: “Alright, that’s it, the last new #TheChase for the year. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and etc etc. Might see you round for the s***te celebrity specials.”

“And we have @MarkLabbett as the Chaser for the last episode of 2021! #TheChase,” said someone else.

A fourth penned: “R.I.P. to the last new team of 2021. Coffin #TheChase”

While a fifth said: “All right, guys, this is it. Time for the last brand-new episode of #TheChase of 2021! Let’s give ’em hell!”

Another person said: “Yesterday’s episode was a complete write-off. Let’s hope that the last *new* episode of the year is infinitely more satisfying. #TheChase”.

The final show of 2021 saw the final four new contestants attempt to beat the chaser. Jon, Terrence, Fil and Lucy were in the studio and up against Mark Labbett, who is fondly known as ‘The Beast’.

Unfortunately the foursome, failed to get their hands on the huge sum of cash when they were caught in the Final Chase.

This comes after a contestant dubbed host Bradley a “fruit cake”.

Michelle, a council woman from Northampton, was chatting to host Bradley after finishing her initial quiz to face the chaser.

Bradley spoke to the contestant as he began to get to know her. He asked: “What’s your favourite cake?” Walsh asked,

To which she replied: “Probably just a sponge”.

When the contestant asked Walsh which cake he preferred, he said “I love a fruit cake”.

Michelle then shocked viewers by saying: “I could’ve guessed”.

Fans took to Twitter to react: “Did Michelle just call Bradley a fruitcake?? I’m dying lol! #thechase.”
