Ben Shephard was gobsmacked as two Tipping Point contestants admitted they had no idea who Richard Osman was.
The two hopefuls – named Anne and Joe – were stumped when they had a question about the Pointless presenter on Tuesday’s instalment of the much-loved ITV show.
Ben had asked which TV presenter had signed a £1.1 million book deal in 2019.
Anne and Joe were both unsure of the answer and one of them mumbled something about it possibly being Jeremy Clarkson.
But when Ben told them it was Richard they both looked totally blank.
“I haven’t heard of him,” said Joe, while Anne agreed: “Neither have I!”
Flabbergasted, Ben asked them: “Have you not heard of Richard Osman?”
Getting nothing, he asked if they had heard of Pointless and that rang a bell as both contestants replied: “Oh yeah!”
Viewers were shocked that the pair had not heard of the famous TV personality.
“Good Lord, they never heard of Richard Osman!” one posted on Twitter.
“This f****** pair don’t even know who Osman is??” tweeted another incredulous viewer.
Another said: “Richard you were just a question on Tipping Point and neither of them had heard of you, I mean, seriously.”
Joe came in for even more stick on social media later in the episode, when he gave the answer “Florida” when asked to name a US state that began and ended in A.
“The 3 US States that start & end in the letter A are Alabama, Alaska & Florida… according to Joe – a teacher,” one person tweeted.
“Where do you get your contestants from?” asked another.
“Q Name a state in America that begins & ends with an A. After a pause, the lad says he’s got it & then answers Florida.”
“Florida begins with an A??? Do tell…” quipped another.
“God help us,” said one viewer. “Since when does Florida begin and end with an a?”
One fan tweeted: “Come on now Joe. Florida, seriously?”
