BGT's Simon Cowell sparks concern as he suggests the Queen may miss Royal Variety Show

Simon Cowell sparks concerns for the Queen as he hints Her Royal Highness may not be able to attend this year’s Royal Variety Show.

During Sunday night’s (June 5) grand final of Britain’s Got Talent, the 62-year-old couldn’t help but get choked up as he gushed over this year’s impressive slew of contestants who gave it their all for one last time.

After each stellar act, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly struggled to get some fresh comments from the judges as the group continued to remain speechless at their impressive performances.

But when the Geordie double act asked the dad-of-one to give his honest review of stand-up comic and impressionist artist Ben, the entrepreneur hinted that the monarch may not be able to attend this year’s performance.

He told the talented performer: “Thank you, by the way, for reminding us – I know the money is important and the bragging rights of winning are important.

“But actually this year more than any, anyone who gets the change to perform – please God it is the Queen [at the Royal Variety] – it’s gonna be a huge big deal.

“And actually, I’ve got to tell you everyone’s brought their A-game tonight [but] from when we first met you, your confidence has gone up.”

He continued: “Like you said, you’ve been on the road for 20 years, I think your bookings are gonna go through the roof – trust me, after this.”

It was at this point that fans rushed to Twitter to share their concerns for Her Royal Highness as many questioned his concerns for the Queen’s health online.

One user asked: “Whoaaaa what did Simon mean by that? Is the queen on deaths door or something? #BGT.”

Another questioned: “Did Simon just reveal that he’s the Grim Reaper responsible for Queenie’s demise? bit suggestive like.”

A third penned: “Simon’s remark about The Queen is awfully #BGT #BGTFinal #BritainsGotTalent,” while another commented: “Did Simon just wish the queen dead I’m cackling #BGT.”

Others pointed out that Simon was likely referring to whether her heath would allow her to attend the show

But others pointed out that he was likely referring to whether her heath would allow her to attend the performance online.

One user wrote: “Nah think he meant because usually the queen don’t attend these days it’s usually William or Phillip or someone like that.”

Another agreed: “It was meant in regards to her attendance – Not if she is still alive. She last attended in 2012 – it’s always attended by a member of the Royal Family – not necessarily the Queen. Given the jubilee year I think he meant he hopes it’s her.”
