Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley gives birth to daughter and shares adorable snap

Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has given birth to her second child.

The 38-year-old actress, who announced she was expecting a little girl back in October, confirmed her daughter’s healthy arrival on Thursday, April 21.

Sharing their happy news with the world, Catherine’s photographer husband Tom Pitfield wrote on Instagram alongside a black and white snap of the baby’s tiny feet: “We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived.

“We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete.”

The couple, who are also parents to six-year-old son Alfie, announced the pregnancy in an interview with Hello! magazine, where Catherine said: “We’re absolutely elated. We feel so lucky. When we found out, I just burst into tears.”

Catherine and Tom’s friends, family and fans have since rushed to congratulate them on their new bundle of joy.

Ex-Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn penned: “Congratulations guys.”

One fan wrote: “Congratulations! a lovely addition to your beautiful family.”

Another gushed: “Fantastic news, congratulations to you all on the arrival of your beautiful daughter.”

While a third person posted: “Huge congratulations to you , beyond thrilled and happy for you , so much love.”

Catherine had previously struggled with a hormonal imbalance which made her body feel like it was pregnant, even though she wasn’t.

The TV personality continued: “I took so many tests as I was convinced I was actually pregnant, but in fact my body was just mimicking a pregnancy.

“So this time, even when my stomach was a bit swollen, I just thought: ‘Oh hormonal imbalances again.'”

Catherine even feared that she was going into peri menopause during the early weeks of her pregnancy.

She said at the time: “I was having terrible insomnia, which is still with me. I was so hot at night and unable to control my temperature.

“I started to panic that perhaps I was peri menopausal. I know I would have been a bit young, but it does happen.”

The former soap star, who spent seven years on the cobbles as unlucky in love barmaid Eva Price, has previously said that her husband is delighted with the news that they are expecting a baby girl.

She said: “Tom was in bits when we found out we are having a little girl. He has suddenly gone all mushy.

“I’m sure she will have him wrapped around her little finger.”
