EastEnders star Danielle Harold has reportedly been axed as part of a soap shake-up.
The popular actress – who has played Lola Pearce on and off for around 11 years – was apparently told the news last week at a meeting with soap bosses.
According to The Sun, she was not expecting to be shown the door and was “teary” and “in pieces” after hearing that Lola was going to be killed off.
A source said: “The cull came out of the blue.
“She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers.”
The insider said that the actress would be written out of the BBC One soap “with no option to return” – which suggests the character would be killed off.
Lola’s exit is said to be part of a big upcoming plot and a source said the blonde actress, who turned 30 last week, was “eager” to throw herself into it.
Danielle first appeared in Walford in July 2011 as Lola, the granddaughter of Billy Mitchell, and was at the centre of a gripping teen pregnancy storyline.
She waved goodbye to Walford in 2015 but then reprised the role in 2019.
The star has not addressed the report of her soap departure on social media, and her last Instagram post was a stunning selfie shared almost a week ago.
Danielle has appeared in other TV shows, including Casualty and Jamie’s Dream School, and has been in films such as Two Graves and Dead Ringer.
Daily Star has contacted the BBC and a representative for Danielle for comment.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
