Fans of BBC Breakfast were given a rather pleasant surprise during the latest episode, as journalist Luxmy Gopal presented the show alongside co-host, Jon Kay.
On Wednesday morning’s instalment of the popular news programme, regular presenter Sally Nugent was nowhere to be seen. But despite the evident change, fans didn’t seem to be too disappointed as they were more than happy to see Luxmy grace their screens on the red sofa.
Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter, fans said Sally’s replacement was warming up their cold morning. One fan wrote: “Cold out! Here in #UK we have #BBCBreakfast with gorgeous Luxmy Gopal to warm the cockles.”

Another said: “After a long, cold night shift, fantastic to get home to a warm house and the lovely smile of @luxmy_g on @BBCBreakfast. Here all week Luxmy?”
A third chimed: “Well what a great way to start Wednesday to see @luxmy_g presenting on @BBCBreakfast.” While another echoed: “How marvellous to see @luxmy_g on @BBCBreakfast this AM.”
BBC Breakfast usually sees Sally and Jon host the show from Monday through to Wednesday. They are then followed by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Sayat who take over from Thursday to Saturday.
Sunday morning’s usually sees a different set of hosts take the reins. Although format changes do you usually happen throughout the weeks, Luxmy is usually seen on Sunday mornings.
Luxmy is also regularly seen on the BBC News channel which is a 24-hour service. On Tuesday (November 28), the news anchor took to social media to let fans know where she would be presenting from. She said: “Greetings from Studio C (my home from home this Tuesday morning)! Keep me company on @BBCNews if you can.”
During the show, Luxmy appeared to jokingly tell her co-host Jon off. The pair were going through the latest newspaper headlines when Jon read an article from The Telegraph which said that walking at a certain pace is what actually helps to improve your lifestyle.
As Luxmy described the new findings as good news, Jon then said: “Yeah it’s good news if your dog is as slow as mine, which is like 10 miles per hour!” He chimed.
Luxmy replied: “Aww poor dog! Don’t name and shame him on air.” Jon could then be heard giggling in the background.
