EastEnders Knight family revealed – Strictly beauty, James Bond fame and role recast

EastEnders are set to welcome a new family as the Knights are heading to Albert Square.

Since Mick Carter’s disappearance, Linda Carter has been struggling to run The Queen Vic and has openly discussed going into business with other residents in Walford, including Sharon Watts and the Panesar’s.

But while they battle to take control of Albert Square’s iconic pub, Linda has secretly teamed up with her mother, Elaine Peacock, who heads to Walford alongside her new lover, George Knight, and his two daughters, Gina and Anna.

Taking on the role of tough-talking and fiercely protective George is Colin Salmon.

The actor, 60, has an illustrious career in both television and film and is best known for playing Charles Robinson in three James Bond films.

The Knights are made up of Elaine Peacock, her new lover, George Knight, and his two daughters, Gina and Anna

Playing Linda’s larger than life mother, Elaine, is Harriet Thorpe who has a career spanning 42 years.

The 65-year-old has starred in several West End productions and became known for her roles in numerous British sitcoms, including The Brittas Empire and Absolutely Fabulous.

Starring as Gina is Francesca Henry, who has graced the West End and appeared on screen in dramas such as A Discovery of Witches and Silent Witness.

Meanwhile portraying the youngest member of the family is Molly Rainford.

The singer, 22, appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 and lit up screens last year when she joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Knights will arrive in Walford in early summer

The blonde beauty also starred as the titular character in drama series Nova Jones and will add her role on the BBC soap to her list of acting credits.

Along with their their beloved Chihuahua, Tyson, the Knights will storm onto the square in early summer.

Speaking about the new family, EastEnders’ Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said: “The arrival of the Knights brings a new dawn to Albert Square. We’re thrilled to welcome this hugely talented group of actors who will be immediately thrown into the heart of the Square.

Colin said he was “thrilled” to be joining the cast and explained he has a “great affinity and love” for the show, adding he looks forward to being part of the “great legacy”.

“I’m thrilled to be playing Elaine who is an ultimate matriarch with a huge and vivid personality, Harriet said.

She continued: “The entire company is a dream come true to work with, full of support, laughs, and creativity, with the warmest welcome from day one. The East End is where my family started out, so for me this feels like coming home”.

Gina actress Francesca exclaimed: “I wish I could tell younger me that one day I would be joining the show that I watched religiously every night with my Grandma,” before calling her new role “surreal and a true privilege”.

While Molly admitted she was “super excited” about joining EastEnders and promised her character will bring the drama.

The singer said: “It’s such an iconic show which myself and my family love, so it’s an honour to bring the character Anna Knight to life who is set to stir up drama upon her arrival.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm
