Emmerdale Robert Sugden return 'sealed' as fans twig major prison sentence twist

Emmerdale fans are convinced Robert Sugden will make an epic return.

The villager, played by Ryan Hawley, was last seen on our screens in 2019 when he was sent to prison for killing his sister Victoria Sugden’s (Isabel Hodgins) rapist Lee Posner.

In recent scenes, viewers saw Victoria discover a loophole in the legal text that could have set her brother free early.

Fans has since taken to social media to predict that Robert could be heading back to the village despite being sentenced to 14 years behind bars.

One Emmerdale viewer penned: “Robert has already served over three years. It would be realistic for the under charge to get downgraded and the sentence lessened.”

Another added: “He probably not do his life sentence anyway. He probably do half of it on good behaviour? They find some way to have him released somehow on when/if they want to bring him back.”

A third person said: “They’ll probably find some way to have him get out sooner.”

Robert actor Ryan recently reunited with his co-stars at Isobel Steele’s leaving do after her on-screen character Liv Dingle was killed off during the ITV soap’s 50th anniversary last year.

Fans have since been begging to see Robert back in the village.

Aaron actor Danny Miller has even admitted it would be “nice” to see Robert back home.

He told press recently:: “I kind of imagined there’d be some crazy action thing just to really step outside – that it would be some action-packed thing where maybe Aaron could turn up and kidnap Robert out of prison.

“It was just stupid talk, I was actually telling Ryan [Hawley] about it! But no, it would’ve been really nice to have him back but it’s near impossible.”

Danny went to admit there is “always a ways and a means” to get characters back together despite the obstacles.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
