Maitland Ward confessed that she was told “no” so many times in Hollywood when she was searching for sexier roles that it destroyed her confidence.
The White Chicks star, who got her start in US soap The Bold and the Beautiful, proved them all wrong, going on to be one of the world’s top porn actresses.
But after a career in Disney and on shows like Boy Meets World, Maitland says it “got into her psyche” that she wasn’t cut out for the saucier on-screen roles.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, the adult film actress confessed that it all started with the announcement of spin-off show Girl Meets World, which thrust Maitland back into the spotlight.
“I was able to do something different with it,” she explained. “I started doing sexy cosplay, and that was just me having fun. I didn’t fully recognise it could be a career choice or I could build a brand off of it.
“That went on for four or five years before I made anything except from going to Comic-Cons. I didn’t make any big money from it, just signing some autographs.”
At the same time, Instagram’s strict ban on suggestive content meant Maitland was constantly kicked off the platform – so her fans suggested she start selling her racier content elsewhere.
“OnlyFans was around but it wasn’t even in my universe,” she admitted. “So I started a Patreon page. I thought maybe I could make, like, 500 bucks, and maybe people would buy some photos.
“By the end of the first week I was the number one adult creator. I had this whole mind-blowing business! It was such a revelation for me. It was so exciting.
“I had been told for so long by Hollywood producers, directors, managers and publicists that I couldn’t be sexy, I couldn’t do the kind of roles I wanted to do.

“That nobody would want to see me like that, nobody would pay for me doing anything sexy. That got into my psyche and that’s why I didn’t think I could make anything on content. Then all of a sudden it exploded.”
Now Maitland is said to be worth around $2million (£1.5m) after switching to adult content, and has even written a book about her experiences in the industry entitled Rated X.
Chew on that, Hollywood!
