The One Show's Alex Jones interrupts co-star after awkward 'married' blunder

The One Show presenter Alex Jones was quick to point out that she wasn’t married to her co-host Jermaine Jenas in an awkward exchange of words.

During Monday night’s episode (January 16), Joanna Lumley, her husband Stephen Barlow and actor Stephan Mangan appeared on the famous green sofa.

Promoting her new podcast alongside her husband, Joanna explained the mechanics behind their music show which focuses on the classical genre.

But things quickly became awkward when Jermaine asked the couple what it was like to work with each other on their joint venture.

Jermaine said: “Obviously podcasts, I mean it’s about classical music but sometimes other conversations come up. I don’t know, we’re married, we know..”

Quickly stopping him in his tracks, Alex playfully chimed: “Not to each other we should say!”

Bursting into laughter, Jermaine added: “Very confusing!”

Joanna and Stephen’s new podcast, called Joanna & The Maestro, explores the couple’s shared love of music as they invite listeners into their home.

But as their interview on The One show took place, fans noticed that Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna was doing most of the talking initially.

The couple spoke about their new podcast

Heading straight over to Twitter, fans were quick to point it out.

One viewer said: “Are they going to let @JoannaLumleyUK husband speak on the #TheOneShow.”

Another pleaded: “Joanna Lumley please let your hubbie speak.”

While a third echoed: “Love Joanna but she hasn’t let her husband get a word in.”

Stephen did end up chiming in on the conversation and expressed his love for their podcast.

Stephen spoke about how their conversations develop on the show

Talking openly, he said: “To actually sit down and allow a conversation to ramble, I mean it’s more than we would normally do for example to ask a question that is slightly complex, you know.

“You don’t sit down at dinner and say ‘I’ve been meanign to ask you this particular question how do you read music you know or how do the strings play a harmonic.

“So it’s a wonderful opportunity to simply sit down and ramble always around performing including the theatre as well,” he cheerfully expressed.
